    Hello Alaska,

Popular juvenile author Roland Smith was on Talk of Alaska yesterday promoting the "Spirit of Reading" project and talking about his books. It was an outstanding program. You can listen to the streaming audio at www.aprn.org. I'm listening to it as I type...how cool is that!

We so enjoyed hosting Roland at our library on Sunday. He has had such an interesting life as a zookeeper and wild animal biologist before becoming a juvenile author. Really quite extraordinary....and my nine year old took home a pile of books that he really wants to read though they are a tiny bit hard for him....so we are diving into them together.

Hooray for the Sitka librarians who put Roland's tour together!

    Cheers,

    Charlotte
