Keet Kids Meet Ben

Keet Gooshi Heen Elementary School, Sitka
Keet Gooshi Heen means "Killer whale fin river" and the school is located at the base of Mount Verstovia. To prepare for Ben's visit, librarian Beau Hedrick read "Rescue Josh McGuire" to all fourth and fifth graders. Many classes are working on "Touching Spirit Bear."
Students watched "Fun with Ben and His Bear Buffy" while in the library.

It was a honor to have Ben Mickelson come to our schooland talk sbout his child hood. i have read 1 of his books, Rescue Josh Miguire, and i thought it was a great book. I enjoy learning about his bear Buffy. so Thank you Ben for comeing to keet gooshe heen!!!!

Hi im makenzie i was at the keet goshi heen presentation.i really liked hearing you speak. you i really enjoyed help ping other kids realize what bulling was and signs there is a problem with bulling and ai liked hearing you tell the kids getting bulled that they can still be enything they want just be your self, and do what you want to do. your an isperation to others and i want to thank you for that. i love animals and i love your books my favorite is rescue josh miguier. i think that even though you went through a hard time at your younger age that you still kept your dream and thought of the good things. its hard to do that.

Our hour-long morning assembly was for all 4th & 5th grade students. We had some good casual conversation about bullying afterwards. As a teacher, I really appreciated his message about self-concept and how that can drive your success or failure. I was hoping for more specifics about writing, but his personal message about his own life resonated with the kids. I was quite impressed!

What a special time the forth and fifth graders had with author Ben Mikaelsen. He had the students of Keet Gooshi Heen eating out of his hand. With a great mix of humor and sincerity his heartfelt story was in inspiration to all. I can’t wait until the next book hits the presses.

i loved his writing. i am thinking of publishing two novels they both have 145 pages.i am nine going on ten.i wonder if they will reject my progress of writting.and when it comes out i hope you read my writing.i love writing and the writing of of others.i hope ben mikcaelsen keeps writing.i hope my writing in the future captures the fantasy and minds of people in diffrent countries. but the most i want is to see new book by ben mikcaelsen.i hope i will become a good writer like him.his writing also reaches out to me because in my old school,ROSEWOOD.i would get bruises.and they usauly did that because i was diffrent like my skin religion and like i had diffrent herritage itallion,mexican and cherokee.

I really liked the pictures of Buffy. Also the story about the tooth paste and everything and his wife realizing the the shower curtains were new and all that.And the story about the 300 kids and he was probly one of the best writers there. I also liked what he said about bullying and that was true. Most who bully now end up with somthing on there criminal record. He seems like a nice guy!!

sup this is isaiah i think your bear is the koolest wild animmal in the world.it would be kooooooooooooooooool to have a pet bear like the panda or a black bear bow chicka bow wow. well i liked touching spirit bear. it made me feel like i was in the story in a way. trevor loves your pet bear me and him would love to play with him. the koooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooolest part of your speach was when u showed us your bear bow chicka bow wow. well see ya. wait i forgot to tell ya something you were so funny when you told us you were dumm no unfenes. i hope you come back to are school dued. well me and trevor and julito loved your bear on the overhead

I like your story when you were a kid in the summer you should come back with your bear and if it was when we do not have school i will come back i ant to see buffy the bear he looks soo cute. so dose buffy have a tuddy bear if he does i am gussing if he had one he would not have it for long and it would be big. My favorit bookis touching spirit bear we readed that i our class room.we had a fun time.Right back...
